Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Dian Medical Journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. The journal strictly follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and adheres to ethical principles outlined in the Declaration of Helsinki for human research and the International Guiding Principles for Biomedical Research by the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS) for studies involving animals.

Ethical publication practices are essential to maintaining the credibility of the scientific record. Therefore, all parties involved in the publishing process—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—are expected to follow ethical standards to ensure integrity and academic honesty in every publication.

Duties of Editors

  • Editors are responsible for deciding which articles will be published based on their scientific quality and relevance.
  • Editors must ensure fair and unbiased peer review, maintaining confidentiality and avoiding conflicts of interest.
  • Editors should provide clear guidelines for authors and reviewers and ensure that all publication policies are followed.
  • Editors are obliged to act upon any suspicion of research or publication misconduct in accordance with COPE flowcharts.

Duties of Reviewers

  • Reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and improving the quality of manuscripts.
  • Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential documents and must not share or discuss them with others.
  • Reviews should be conducted objectively and professionally, providing constructive feedback to authors.
  • Reviewers should declare any potential conflict of interest and decline the review if necessary.

Duties of Authors

  • Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are original, not previously published, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • All sources used in the research must be properly cited and referenced to avoid plagiarism or self-plagiarism.
  • Research involving human participants or animals must follow recognized ethical standards and have appropriate ethical approval.
  • Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest and funding sources related to their research.
  • Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the data presented and must provide supporting evidence if requested.

Duties of the Publisher

  • The publisher of Dian Medical Journal, the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Dian Nuswantoro, ensures that editorial independence is fully respected.
  • The publisher supports editors in managing ethical issues and guarantees that publication decisions are based solely on academic merit.
  • In cases of proven misconduct, plagiarism, or fraudulent publication, the publisher will take appropriate actions, including corrections or retractions.
