Registration and login are required to submit manuscripts online and to track the status of current submissions.
Author Guidelines
JOHHS accepts only research articles that have not been previously published elsewhere.
A. Manuscript Format
- Paper size: A4
- Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt, single-spaced
- Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides
- Length: 5–10 pages (excluding abstract, tables, figures/diagrams, and references)
- Tables and figures: maximum 8 in total
- Footnotes: not permitted
- Layout: two-column format
- Language: English
- Review process: every manuscript is evaluated by two reviewers appointed by the editor
B. Manuscript Structure
Applicable to Original Articles, Literature Reviews, and Case Reports.
- Title — Concise and informative, maximum 12 words, followed by the author's full name(s) and institutional affiliation(s).
- Abstract — Written in both English and Indonesian, 200–250 words each, covering the introduction, objectives, methods, main results, and conclusions. Keywords follow immediately after, separated by one line space.
- Introduction — Presents the background, core problem, and research objectives.
- Methods — Describes the research design, location and time, population, sampling technique, variables, and data collection/analysis. Must state that ethical approval was obtained, including the ethics certificate number.
- Results — Presents findings via narrative, tables, and/or figures with statistical results, without interpretation. Table titles are placed above the table; figure titles below the figure.
- Discussion — Summarizes key findings, provides supporting arguments, compares findings with other relevant studies, and explains their contribution to science and the community.
- Conclusion — A brief statement summarizing the findings in relation to the research problem and objectives.
- Conflict of Interest — Authors declare any significant competing financial, professional, or personal interests.
- Authors' Contribution — Describes each author's individual contribution.
Example: PA: Conceptualization, Methodology, Software. SA: Data curation, Writing – Original draft preparation. SH: Visualization, Investigation. AK: Software, Validation. YK: Writing – Reviewing and Editing. - Acknowledgements — States the funding source and expresses appreciation to contributing parties.
- References — Listed alphabetically using the Vancouver reference style . Authors are encouraged to use a reference manager such as Mendeley for consistency.
Additional Notes
- All manuscripts are screened for plagiarism via Turnitin twice — at initial submission and after peer review. Maximum similarity: 20%; maximum AI-generated content: 20%.
- Manuscripts with no progress within three months will be automatically rejected.
- Manuscripts must be submitted in .doc or .docx format.
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to confirm that their submission complies with all of the following items. Submissions that do not adhere to these guidelines may be returned to the author.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it currently under consideration by another journal (or an explanation has been provided in the Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) format.
- URLs for references have been provided where available.
- The manuscript is single-spaced on A4 paper, using 11-point Times New Roman font, with 2.5 cm margins on all sides; the length is between 5–10 pages; tables and figures do not exceed 8 in total; and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points rather than at the end.
- Authors have submitted the following as supplementary files: Conflict of Interest Form, Copyright Agreement Form, Ethical Clearance, Proofread Certificate, and Research Instrument.
- The manuscript adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
- For peer-reviewed sections, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
- Authors understand that, if accepted for publication, they retain copyright of the article and grant JOHHS, Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Dian Nuswantoro, Indonesia, the right of first publication.
