Plagiarism Policy
The Journal of Multiscale Materials Informatics (JIMAT) is committed to maintaining academic integrity and ensuring the originality of all published scholarly works.
1. Originality Requirements
All submitted manuscripts must represent original scholarly work. Authors must appropriately acknowledge and cite previously published research, including their own relevant publications.
Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, and inappropriate reuse of text, data, figures, or research findings are not acceptable.
2. Similarity Screening
Submitted manuscripts may undergo similarity screening using plagiarism-detection software as part of the editorial assessment.
Similarity reports are evaluated by the editorial team in context. A similarity percentage alone does not establish plagiarism, and appropriate quotations, references, technical terminology, and methodological descriptions are considered during assessment.
3. Types of Plagiarism
JIMAT considers several forms of plagiarism and inappropriate content reuse, including:
-
Direct copying without appropriate attribution.
-
Paraphrasing without acknowledging the original source.
-
Reusing previously published material without appropriate citation or permission.
-
Duplicate or redundant publication.
-
Misrepresentation of others' ideas, data, or research contributions.
4. Handling Suspected Plagiarism
When potential plagiarism is identified, the editorial team may request clarification, supporting documentation, or manuscript revision.
Serious or unresolved cases may result in manuscript rejection or appropriate post-publication action, following relevant publication ethics procedures and COPE guidance.
5. Authors' Responsibilities
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are original, appropriately cited, and compliant with copyright and publication ethics requirements.
All authors share responsibility for the integrity of the submitted work.
