Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • 1. Originality and Exclusive Submission. The manuscript is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • 2. Journal Scope and Author Guidelines. The manuscript aligns with the aims and scope of JIMAT and has been prepared according to the journal's author guidelines and manuscript template.
  • 3. Authorship and Contributions. All listed authors have made appropriate scholarly contributions, approved the submitted manuscript, and agreed to its submission.
  • 4. Research Ethics and Integrity. The research complies with applicable ethical standards. All data, results, figures, and citations are accurately reported, and any required ethical approvals have been obtained.
  • 5. Double-Anonymized Review. The manuscript file has been anonymized by removing author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, and identifying document metadata, where applicable.
  • 6. Data Availability and Reproducibility. The manuscript provides sufficient methodological details for evaluation and reproducibility. Data and code availability, access restrictions, and relevant supporting materials are disclosed where applicable.
  • 7. Competing Interests and Funding. All relevant funding sources and potential conflicts of interest have been disclosed to the editorial office, including declarations where none exist.

Author Guidelines

Prepare your manuscript

JIMAT welcomes original research and review articles within the journal's aims and scope. Manuscripts must be written in clear English, be original, and not be under consideration by another journal.

Start here: Download the manuscript template · Submit a manuscript · Read the peer review process

1. Format and article structure

Prepare the main manuscript as one editable Microsoft Word file using the journal template. Follow the template for typography, headings, citations, and reference formatting.

  • Title and author information: Provide a concise and informative manuscript title. To support double-anonymized peer review, the main manuscript must not contain author names, institutional affiliations, email addresses, acknowledgments revealing author identity, or identifying document metadata. Complete author information must be entered separately in the OJS submission metadata. Ensure that all author details are accurate and consistent.
  • Abstract and keywords: summarize the objective, methods, principal findings, and contribution. Select keywords that accurately describe the study.
  • Research articles: organize the text into Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion, and Conclusions, with acknowledgments and references as appropriate.
  • Review articles: explain the review objective, literature selection approach, synthesis, limitations, and research directions.
  • Figures, tables, and equations: number them consistently, cite them in the text, and provide informative captions, legible labels, and definitions of symbols and units.
  • References: use the citation style in the template, check every citation against the reference list, and include DOI links where available.

2. Reporting and research transparency

Describe methods, data sources, preprocessing, experimental conditions, and analysis sufficiently to support evaluation and reproducibility. For computational studies, report relevant software versions, model settings, validation procedures, and limitations. Identify funding, competing interests, author contributions, and any required ethics approval or consent. Where appropriate, explain how readers can access supporting data and code, or why access is restricted.

Use of Artificial Intelligence: Authors must disclose the use of generative AI tools when such tools materially contribute to manuscript preparation, data analysis, coding, or research interpretation. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and validity of their work. AI tools must not be listed as authors.

3. Before you submit

  • Check that the manuscript fits the journal's scope and follows the template.
  • Confirm that all authors have approved the manuscript and the submission.
  • Check language, citations, figure quality, and permissions for reused material.
  • Read the Publication Ethics and Plagiarism Policy.
  • Manuscripts are screened with Turnitin before review. The journal's stated similarity threshold is a maximum of 20%, excluding the bibliography; a similarity score does not by itself establish originality or ethical compliance.

4. Submit and track your manuscript

Register or sign in to OJS, start a new submission, upload the manuscript, enter complete metadata, and confirm the submission. Use your OJS account to follow its progress and respond to editorial requests.

The editorial and peer review timelines vary depending on manuscript quality, reviewer availability, revision requirements, and production schedules. JIMAT is committed to providing timely editorial decisions without compromising the quality and integrity of the peer review process.

5. Revisions and acceptance

Submit a revised manuscript with a point-by-point response explaining how each editor and reviewer comment was addressed. Explain any disagreement with supporting evidence. A Letter of Acceptance is issued only after a formal acceptance decision.

6. Publication fees and withdrawal

No submission, review, or article processing charge (APC) is charged, including for accepted articles.

Withdrawal requests must be sent to editorial.jimat@gmail.com. Under the journal's existing withdrawal policy, withdrawal during review or revision is free; withdrawal after acceptance is subject to a USD 100 charge. This is a withdrawal charge, not an APC. Published articles are not ordinarily withdrawn; serious integrity concerns are handled through the applicable editorial correction or retraction process.

7. Questions and editorial assistance

Contact editorial.jimat@gmail.com and include your manuscript ID, if assigned. For reviewer responsibilities, consult the Reviewer Guidelines.
