MIYO SASAKI’S CHARACTER NEEDS IN THE ANIME A WHISKER AWAY: A STUDY OF HENRY MURRAY’S PERSONOLOGY

Abstract

This article discusses a character named Miyo Sasaki using Henry Murray's theory of personology in the anime entitled A Whisker Away. Miyo Sasaki is described as a cheerful and energetic girl who always pursues Kento Hinode. Miyo Sasaki in the anime A Whisker Away is depicted with many meaningful actions that make the author interested in analyzing the needs of Miyo Sasaki's character using qualitative descriptive methods. Data collection is done by making observations and documentation. Data is taken based on dialog excerpts with scenes related to the research. This study aims to determine the needs of the character Miyo Sasaki in the anime A Whisker Away. Based on the analysis that has been done, it can be concluded that Miyo Sasaki includes the need for achievement, affiliation, aggression, autonomy, counteraction, exhibition, nurturance and succorance.
