Schizophrenia Symptomsin Hinako's Character in the Anime RideYourWave Using a Literary Psychology Approach

Abstract

This research discusses the hallucinations experienced by the character Hinako in the animeRide Your Wave. The schizophrenia symptoms exhibited by Hinako are triggered by a tragic incidentthat resulted in the death of her lover. The purpose of this research is to identify the symptoms ofschizophreniathrough the theoryof hallucinations as exhibitedin Hinako’scharacter. Thisresearch usespsychoanalytic theory and Stuart'stheory of hallucinations. The data was collected from sourcesrelatedto the animeRide YourWave.The datacollectionmethodusedin thisresearchis qualitative descriptive,where the data is not presented in numerical form. In the process, the data was collected by identifyinghallucination scenes experienced by the character Hinako in the anime Ride Your Wave, followed bycollecting scene data, transcribing dialogues, and then proceeding with data analysis. The results of theanalysis show that the character Hinako experiences three types of hallucinations out of fivehallucinations. These three types are visual hallucinations, auditory hallucinations, and tactilehallucinations.
