Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement – Techno.com Journal
Techno.com is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by Universitas Dian Nuswantoro. The journal is fully committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and follows guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the Regulation of the Head of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) No. 5 of 2014 regarding ethical scientific publication.
This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process: journal editors, reviewers, authors, and publishers.
Plagiarism and Originality
To ensure academic integrity, all submitted manuscripts are checked for plagiarism using Turnitin software. Manuscripts that are found to contain significant plagiarism, duplication, or unethical practices (e.g., data fabrication or falsification) will be rejected or retracted.
Authors must ensure that their work is original, has not been published elsewhere, and is not under consideration by another journal. Proper citation must be given for all sources.
Core Ethical Principles
Based on COPE guidelines and LIPI regulations, all parties must uphold these three ethical values:
- Neutrality: Free from conflicts of interest in publication management.
- Fairness: Equal opportunity and proper recognition of authorship.
- Integrity: Honest and transparent publishing practices with no plagiarism, duplication, fabrication, or falsification.
Responsibilities of Journal Editors
- Make fair and unbiased editorial decisions based solely on academic merit and relevance.
- Maintain confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and author identities.
- Manage conflicts of interest transparently.
- Ensure the quality and integrity of the peer review process.
- Take corrective actions when ethical violations occur (e.g., corrections, retractions).
- Promote and uphold ethical publishing practices in accordance with COPE.
- Encourage academic freedom and open dialogue.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Provide objective, constructive, and timely reviews to improve the quality of manuscripts.
- Maintain confidentiality of manuscripts and not use them for personal advantage.
- Disclose any conflict of interest that may affect impartiality.
- Decline to review manuscripts in which they have a personal or professional conflict.
- Identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.
- Assist editors in identifying any ethical concerns such as plagiarism or unethical research.
Responsibilities of Authors
- Ensure submitted manuscripts are original, accurate, and properly referenced.
- Confirm that all authors listed have significantly contributed to the work.
- Disclose any potential conflict of interest or source of funding.
- Obtain ethical clearance (if applicable) and describe limitations in their research.
- Respond appropriately to reviewer comments and revise manuscripts professionally.
- Avoid redundant or multiple submissions to different journals simultaneously.
- Promptly inform the editor if a significant error is discovered in a published work and cooperate in its correction or retraction.
Responsibilities of the Publisher / Journal Management
- Provide support and oversight to ensure the editorial team adheres to ethical guidelines.
- Ensure legal and copyright compliance in publication.
- Safeguard the availability and archiving of published articles.
- Promote journal dissemination and long-term sustainability.
- Establish transparent relationships between editors, reviewers, and authors.
- Uphold the integrity of the journal’s reputation by supporting ethical editorial decisions.
Ethical Misconduct Handling
Techno.com will follow COPE flowcharts and best practices in handling ethical issues such as authorship disputes, plagiarism, fabricated data, peer review manipulation, or other forms of misconduct. All ethical breaches will be investigated thoroughly and may result in retraction, correction, or blacklisting of the responsible parties.
Authorship and Contributorship
- Authorship must be limited to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research.
- All listed authors must approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission.
- Guest, honorary, or ghost authorship is prohibited.
- The journal supports the use of CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) to clearly define each contributor’s role (e.g., conceptualization, methodology, data curation, writing, supervision).
Conflicts of Interest
- All authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest, whether financial, professional, or personal, that could influence the research or peer review.
