Publication Ethics
The Journal of Intelligent Computing and Cybersecurity (JICOMX) is committed to upholding high standards of publication ethics throughout every stage of the publishing process, in accordance with the principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher.
1. Author Responsibilities
- Submitted manuscripts must be original work; any use of others' work or words must be properly cited and referenced.
- Authors must not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal.
- Authors are responsible for ensuring that research findings are reported honestly, accurately, and without data manipulation.
- All listed authors must meet authorship criteria (having made a significant contribution to the research) and must approve the final submitted manuscript.
- Authors must disclose research funding sources and any potential conflicts of interest.
- If an author discovers a significant error in a published work, they must promptly notify the JICOMX editors to facilitate correction or retraction.
2. Reviewer Responsibilities
- Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts under review and must not use the information contained therein for personal benefit.
- Reviewers must provide objective assessments based on scholarly argument, free from personal bias toward the authors.
- Reviewers must withdraw from the review process if they have a conflict of interest with the authors, their institution, or the research funding involved.
- Reviewers are expected to provide constructive, timely feedback in accordance with the assigned schedule.
3. Editor Responsibilities
- Editors are fully responsible for decisions to accept or reject manuscripts, based on scientific quality, originality, and alignment with the journal's focus and scope.
- Editors uphold the integrity of the double-blind review process, ensuring it remains free from discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, religion, nationality, or institutional affiliation of the authors.
- Editors must maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts under review and must not disclose information to parties other than the relevant authors, reviewers, and editorial team.
- Editors act decisively on suspected ethical violations, including plagiarism, data manipulation, and duplicate publication.
4. Plagiarism Policy
All manuscripts submitted to JICOMX are screened using plagiarism detection software prior to entering the review stage. Manuscripts exceeding the established similarity index threshold will be returned to the authors for revision, or rejected if significant indications of plagiarism are found.
5. Handling of Suspected Misconduct
Where suspected publication misconduct is identified (plagiarism, data fabrication/manipulation, improper authorship, or duplicate publication), whether before or after publication, JICOMX will:
- Conduct an internal investigation led by the Editor-in-Chief and editorial team.
- Request written clarification from the author(s) involved.
- Take appropriate action, including but not limited to: manuscript rejection, publication of a correction, or article retraction if the violation is confirmed post-publication.
6. Retraction Policy
JICOMX may retract a published article if the following is found:
- Clear evidence that the findings are unreliable due to error (e.g., data errors) or intentional misconduct (e.g., data fabrication).
- Significant plagiarism or duplicate publication.
- Serious violations of research ethics.
Retracted articles will remain accessible, clearly marked as "RETRACTED," along with the stated reason for retraction, to preserve transparency and the integrity of the scholarly record.
7. Conflict of Interest
All parties involved in the publication process (authors, reviewers, editors) must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could affect objectivity, including financial relationships, institutional affiliations, or relevant personal relationships.
