CONVERSATION ANALYSIS ON DEBUNK VACCINE CONSPIRACIES

Abstract


The purpose of this study was to find out aspects of conversations between the host of Try Guys and a guest star. The research methodology in this study is descriptive qualitative. In collecting the data, the researchers gain the data purposively. The data are taken from youtube channel namely Try Guys. Furthermore, the sources of research data are inform of transcript of conversation and video of Try Guys with Dr. Anthony Fauci as the guest star. Meanwhile, the technique of data analysis uses the theory of Maynard (2013) about conversation aspects. The results show that there are some aspects of conversation found in the text, those are opening and closing, adjacency pairs, topic management, turn-taking, feedback, and preference organization. The aspect that has the most number is turn-taking because the data of his study is interview. There are 23 pairs turn taking of the video, where 22 turn taking giving nomination and 1 turn taking without nomination.  It was also found that Try Guys needs to control the interview by asking or giving statement so the conversation will run smoothly.
