Linearity Analysis of Motivation and Work Interest of Alumni of Tourism Service Business Expertise Competence in the Tourism Industry; Case Study at SMK Negeri 1 Sewon, Bantul, Yogyakarta

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the motivation and work interests ofalumni of the Tourism Service Business Expertise Competence of SMK Negeri 1 Sewonand the right techniques so that alumni of the tourism service business expertisecompetency can work linearly in the tourism industry. This study uses a qualitativeresearch method by taking 67 alumni of the Tourism Service Business ExpertiseCompetence of SMK Negeri 1 Sewon Academic Year 2023/2024 as respondents.Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used in this study used triangulationconsisting of the results of observations, interviews and documentation. Workmotivation is very important to encourage a person's work interest. In accordancewith the theory, if an individual is motivated, they will be encouraged to do anythingto achieve a series of goals (Umeozor, 2018). Also in accordance with the SMK slogan,namely working, continuing and entrepreneurship. The results of the study showedthat alumni felt less confident in their competency abilities, lacked mastery of foreignlanguages, lack of relations in the tourism industry and limited information on jobvacancies in the tourism industry. Meanwhile, the right technique to answer thisphenomenon is by encouraging the competency of students, placing Field WorkPractices (PKL) according to the interests of students, providing motivation and workinterests of alumni especially in the tourism industry, and providing education onqualifications and workforce needs in the tourism industry. This finding contributesto the Special Job Exchange (BKK) for Tourism Service Business ExpertiseCompetencies of SMK Negeri 1 Sewon so that alumni can work linearly in the tourismindustry.
