The Translation Analysis Of Affect From Novel Entitled The Crazy Rich Asians Written By Kevin Kwan
Abstract
This research focused on types of Affects as part of Attitude in Appraisal Theory expressed by the two main characters in the novel The Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan and the analysis of the translation of the Indonesian novel Kaya Tujuh Turunan translated by Cindy Kristanto. This research is qualitative descriptive research with a focused single case study. 238 data were collected through content analysis and focus group discussion (FGD). Data validity used data source and method triangulation, then the data analysis technique used Spradley’s model. The findings revealed that from 14 types of Affects as part of attitude in Appraisal Theory in the novel The Crazy Rich Asians, 13 types of Affects that describe the two main characters were found. The only type of Affect not found in the novel is Secure-Trust. The Indonesian translation found 1 shift translation, 1 changing, 8 less accurate, 1 not accurate, 4 less acceptable, and 1 less readable.Downloads
