Publication Ethics Statement and Malpractice Statement
The statement outlines the ethical standards for all parties involved in the publication of JAKA, including authors, editors, peer reviewers, and the publisher.
Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication
Peer-reviewed articles, like those in JAKA, are crucial for establishing a respected knowledge network. They reflect the quality of authors' work and uphold the scientific method, requiring ethical behavior from all involved parties (the authors, the journal editors, the peer reviewers, the publisher and the society).
Universitas Dian Nuswantoro, a publisher, strictly oversees publishing stages, ensuring ethical responsibilities and avoiding commercial revenues from advertising. Universitas Dian Nuswantoro and the Editorial Board of Jurnal JAKA facilitate communication with other journals and publishers.
Publication Decision
The editor-in-chief of JAKA, based on recommendations from the editorial board and reviewers, makes decisions on publishing articles, adhering to legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism.
Non-discrimination
Editors and reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on intellectual content, without discrimination related to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the author.
Confidentiality
The editor, reviewer, and editorial staff are prohibited from disclosing any information about the manuscript to anyone other than the appropriate writer, reviewer, prospective reviewer, editorial team, and publisher.
Disclosure and conflict of interest
The manuscript's unpublished material may not be utilized by the Board of Editor or Reviewer for their own research.
Duties of Reviewer
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
The journal employs a double-blind review process, where reviewers provide advice to the editor-in-chief and assist authors in enhancing the quality of their research papers.
Punctuality
Journal editors are committed to providing timely reviews to authors. If a reviewer fails to submit his/her report promptly, the paper will be immediately sent to another qualified reviewer.
Confidentiality
The contents of the manuscript will be kept confidential. Except for the editor-in-chief, editors and reviewers cannot discuss the manuscript with anyone else, including the author.
Standard of Objectivity
Editors and reviewers are responsible for evaluating papers based on their content, ensuring that review comments are polite and accountable.
Acknowledgment to the Resource Person
Reviewers should identify uncited published work, cite previously reported observations, derivations, or arguments, and inform the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper they know of.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Peer review should ensure confidential and non-personally beneficial use of privileged information or ideas, and reviewers should avoid manuscripts with conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, or other connections with authors, companies, or institutions.
Duties of Authors
Reporting Standards
Authors must provide a precise and objective account of their work, discussing its significance, and accurately represent the underlying data with sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or inaccurate statements constitute unethical conduct and are unacceptable.
Data Access and Storage
Authors are requested to provide raw data for editorial review and should be prepared to do so within a reasonable timeframe.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must guarantee originality and proper citation of work and words, as papers with such issues will be automatically rejected and notified.
Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
Authors submitting manuscripts must ensure that the manuscripts haven't been published or considered elsewhere, as concurrent submissions are considered unethical and unacceptable.
Acknowledgement to the Resource Person
Authors must acknowledge the work of others and cite publications that have influenced their research for proper acknowledgement.
Writing of Papers (Authorship)
Authorship should be restricted to significant research contributors, with the corresponding author informing co-authors about review processes and signing a statement confirming research work originality upon acceptance.
Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects
The author must clearly identify any inherent hazards in the work, including chemicals, procedures, or equipment, in the manuscript.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Authors should disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that might be construed as influencing the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.
Fundamental Errors in Published Works
Authors should promptly report any significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work to the journal editor or publisher, who will then work to retract or correct the work.
