Literature Review Study: The Role of Culture and Tradition in Influencing Tourist Experiences in Oman
Abstract
The global tourism industry, particularly in the Middle East region, has played asignificant role in economic diversification. In the United Arab Emirates and SaudiArabia, massive investment in this sector is expected to not only increase touristarrivals but also strengthen the destination's global image as a modern tourismhub. On the other hand, Oman still maintains its rich culture and traditions toprovide a unique attraction for tourists. This research aims to explore how localcultural elements and traditions influence tourists' experiences in Oman. Thisresearch used a study literature review (SLR) approach, as the data were collectedthrough document analysis, observation, and documentation on cultural tourismactivities, such as visits to historical tourist attractions, traditional markets, andcultural festivals in Oman. The results show that cultural elements, such astraditional architecture, traditional markets, and cultural festivals, have asignificant role in creating authentic and meaningful tourism experiences. Besidesenjoying the natural beauty of Oman, tourists are also interested in theinteractions they have with local people and the traditions that are stillmaintained. Cultural preservation carried out by the Omani government andsociety has proven to be an important factor in strengthening tourist attractions.This research confirms that strengthening cultural identity through tourismpromotion strategies can provide a deeper experience for tourists, whilesupporting sustainable tourism growth.Downloads
